OUR PEOPLE

OUR HISTORY

Glodina Towelling (Pty) Ltd (Glodina), proudly owned by the Industrial Development Corporation of South Africa (IDC), re-commenced operations at its Hammarsdale manufacturing site during November 2018. This re-start followed a 12-month manufacturing shut down while the sale of assets was concluded between KAP Homeware (Pty) Ltd and the IDC. Glodina has focused on spending the past few months ensuring that its manufacturing operation is brought to a standard which ensures the highest levels of quality that the Glodina brand has been synonymous with over its 60-year history.

The brand has been the cornerstone of supply to the hospitality industry within Southern Africa over the past 20 years. The Glodina Black Label Marathon brand was the premium product in this space with its snag proof construction, increased strength and increased life expectancy being competitive advantages over the traditional woven towel. We are proud to announce that the Marathon brand has been re-developed to improve the look and feel, reduce water consumption and drying time during washing and increased its tensile strength. The new product is in line with the company strategy of improving product offerings in all spheres over the coming 24 months with a focus on innovation, quality, design and the environmental impact.

Glodina, under new ownership and management, is seeking to re-establish itself as the terry towelling manufacturer of choice within the Southern African region.

GLODINA IS COMMITTED TO THE PRINCIPLES OF GOOD CORPORATE CITIZENSHIP AND SEEKS TO CREATE SUSTAINABLE EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES.

Glodina contributes significantly to the upliftment of its people, as well as the community in which it operates and the broader textile industry in South Africa.

People are at the core of this philosophy. Glodina employs approximately 210 people, has a 98% black staff compliment.
